BENDA (Ben Liu) × L'Officiel Hommes China: 

When I received the photos of the clothing on runway,

I fell in love right away with those gradient-color shoes by Sergio Rossi (on Micheal Jackson),

translucent nylon in bold pink shoes by Marc jacobs (on John Galliano)

and the floral ones by Carven (on David Bowie).

I tried to play the roles of each person I drew:

to feel what would they pose if I was their photographer.

So I was digging into their biographies, their photos, and video archives...

Maybe you won't believe, it was not only about illustration,

but also about acting and directing at the same time.

Quite an intense experience for me.

So What do you think about the result? :)

C'était toute une expérience intense pour moi.

J'adoré les souliers de défilé mode qu'on m'a montré.

Ceux de Sergio Rossi sur Micheal jackon, en couleurs dégradées,

de Marc Jacobs sur John Galliano, en rose transparent

et ceux de Carven sur David Bowie, en motifs floraux.

J'ai joué trois rôles en même temps afin de faire les illustrations :

photographe, « les vedettes » et illustrateur car je voulais

savoir comment ils vont poser pour moi dans mes « dessins-photos ».

Je me sentais épuisé physiquement autant moralement

après la création...

Et c'est à vous de les juger maintenant. :)
